How Grommet started
Allison Fetzer Dilks grew up between Kailua and Sunset Beach and spent 15 years as an interior designer. Then she became mom to two groms who go full speed from first wave to last. Now that both are in school full time, she’s dropping in on something all her own: a children’s boutique on Oahu’s Windward side.
Kids clothes, chosen with joy
Allison loves the hunt. She seeks out small brands with bright prints, playful details, and real personality, the kind of kids clothes that make a grom stand a little taller. Her favorite moment is when a kid looks in the mirror and grins, and mom or dad grins right back.
The finds: kids clothing brands we love
Every brand on Grommet’s racks earned its spot by passing three tests. Does it look great? Will it last? Will kids actually want to wear it?
- Tea Collection: Fresh, cute kids clothes in bright, joyful prints, plus girls’ swimsuits they won’t want to take off.
- Seaesta Surf: Good ol’ fashioned surf culture with a touch of rascal edge, made for groms who are always up to something.
- Tiny Whales: Retro-inspired kids tees and play clothes with an adventurous streak.
- Kahala: Classic aloha shirts for family outings, from birthday lunches to sunset dinners. A Honolulu original since 1936.
- Sanuk: Everyone’s favorite sandal from childhood, now on a new generation of sandy feet.
Made to last
Every piece also has to hold up to salt, sand, and serious adventuring. Grommet’s kids clothing is chosen for quality, so families can buy well, buy few, and wear it till it’s soft, faded, and full of stories.
